How Successful Women Build Financial Independence, Wealth & Freedom

How Successful Women Build Financial Independence, Wealth & Freedom
There is a version of success we are taught to chase that looks impressive from the outside but can feel exhausting on the inside.
More money.
More clients.
More responsibilities.
More hours.
More things to manage.
And eventually, more burnout.
But what if the real goal isn't simply to become more successful?
What if the goal is to build financial independence, wealth, and freedom without giving up the life you're building that wealth to enjoy?
That was one of the biggest themes in my conversation with longtime friend and commercial real estate powerhouse Tori Nook on Beyond Common Business Secrets.
Tori has generated more than $1 billion in real estate sales and built a successful commercial real estate brokerage in a traditionally male-dominated industry. She's also a wife, mother, social media influencer, and author.
And she has learned some powerful lessons along the way.
Success Doesn't Always Come From Doing More
When I asked Tori what skill had contributed most to her success, her answer wasn't complicated.
Persistence.
She described herself as a bulldog who doesn't stop.
But there's another part of her story that is just as important.
Tori has learned that successful people don't necessarily do everything themselves.
In fact, one of the biggest shifts she made was recognizing what she was actually good at and what she should stop doing.
She's good at sales.
She's good at creating business.
She's good at running her company.
But she doesn't need to manage her own calendar, bookkeeping, social media, childcare, and every other operational detail.
That's what support is for.
And that's a lesson so many entrepreneurs need to hear.
Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should.

How Tori Nook Built a $1 Billion Real Estate Career and Her Own Company
Financial Independence Is About More Than Money
For Tori, financial independence isn't about having money just for the sake of having money.
It's about having choices.
Money gives you flexibility.
It allows you to make decisions without having to depend entirely on someone else.
It allows you to provide opportunities for your family.
And it gives you the ability to know that, whatever happens, you have options.
That's particularly powerful for women.
Because financial independence isn't simply a financial goal.
It's a form of freedom.
Women Don't Need to Be Overqualified
One of my favorite moments in our conversation was when we talked about how differently men and women often approach opportunity.
Tori's advice was simple:
Ask.
Don't wait until you're perfectly qualified.
Don't assume someone else has to invite you into the room.
Don't decide you're not worthy before anyone else has even had the opportunity to say yes or no.
Ask.
Tori shared that throughout her career she repeatedly asked for more money, better opportunities, and greater compensation.
Sometimes the answer was yes.
And if someone said no?
She kept going.
That's entrepreneurship.
That's leadership.
And sometimes, that's simply believing enough in yourself to ask.
Women Should Be Thinking About Wealth, Not Just Income
Another important part of our conversation was real estate.
Tori believes women have an enormous opportunity to build wealth through owning real estate.
She described real estate as a hard asset that can potentially produce what she calls “mailbox money” income generated from an asset rather than directly from your hours.
But she also offered an important warning:
Don't go into it blind.
Learn.
Find mentors.
Hire a coach.
Join a community.
Work with people who understand what you're trying to do.
Get the education and support necessary to make intelligent decisions.
Building wealth doesn't mean doing everything alone.
You Don't Have to Build Someone Else's Version of Success
Perhaps my favorite part of this conversation was the reminder that there isn't one correct way for a woman to build a life she loves.
Some women want to be full-time entrepreneurs.
Some want careers.
Some want businesses.
Some want to be homemakers.
Some want a combination of all of them.
The goal isn't to become the woman everyone else thinks you should be.
The goal is to figure out what actually works for you.
Tori knows herself well enough to recognize that staying home full-time wouldn't have been the best fit for her personality.
And that self-awareness matters.
Because success that looks beautiful on someone else's Instagram can still be completely wrong for you.
Trust Yourself
That brings us to the title of Tori's upcoming book, Intuitive Certainty.
One of the most powerful messages she hopes readers take away is learning to trust themselves.
We all have intuition.
We all have the ability to notice when something feels right or wrong.
We can sense the energy of a person.
We can recognize when a relationship isn't healthy.
We can notice when an opportunity isn't aligned.
The problem isn't always that we don't know.
Sometimes the problem is that we know and then talk ourselves out of what we know.
Tori's message is to learn to listen.
Because sometimes your intuition is telling you something your logical brain hasn't caught up to yet.
What Does Success Look Like When You Get to Define It?
Maybe the real goal isn't simply to become more successful.
Maybe it's to build a life where your success actually gives you more freedom.
Freedom to make choices.
Freedom to be present with the people you love.
Freedom to pursue work that matters to you.
Freedom to ask for more.
Freedom to build wealth.
Freedom to trust yourself enough to make decisions that are right for you.
That's one of the things I loved most about my conversation with Tori Nook.
Her story is extraordinary. More than $1 billion in real estate sales throughout her career. A successful commercial real estate business. A family. Entrepreneurship. And a career built by continually being willing to ask for more, take risks, learn, adapt, and keep moving forward.
But what makes her story relatable isn't the number.
It's the choices behind the number.
It's the courage to keep going when things don't go according to plan.
It's learning when to ask for help.
It's understanding that you don't have to do everything yourself.
It's building financial independence because having choices matters.
And it's learning to trust the part of yourself that often knows the answer before you can explain it.
Sometimes, You Already Know.
That last piece is something Tori explores even more deeply in her upcoming book, Intuitive Certainty a book about learning to trust yourself and recognize that you often know more than you think you do.
And honestly, I think that's a powerful place to leave this conversation.
Because whether you're building a business, growing your career, raising a family, building wealth, or simply trying to figure out what comes next, you don't need someone else to hand you a definition of success.
You get to decide what success looks like for you.
And then you get to build it.

A final thought from me
Tori's story is a powerful reminder that success doesn't have to mean sacrificing the life you're building.
Your success should create more freedom, not less.
