Unlocking Abundance: Why Survival Mode Is Blocking the Life You’re Meant to Live

Trying to create abundance while living in survival mode is like trying to grow a garden in a hurricane.
You can want abundance.
You can visualize abundance.
You can work yourself into exhaustion trying to earn it.
But abundance does not grow in chaos.
It does not land in a body that never feels safe.
And it does not respond to survival.
Most of the world is living in survival mode while desperately wanting abundance—and wondering why it feels so hard.
I know this because I lived it.
There was a season of my life where I believed my worth had to be proven. I overworked. I overgave. I overfunctioned. I people-pleased until I didn’t recognize myself anymore. I told myself that missing moments with my family was just “the price of success.”
Until one ordinary day became extraordinary.
I was driving, rushing from one obligation to the next, when the sky suddenly turned dark. Rain started pouring. My car hydroplaned. I lost control. Cars were coming toward me.
And in that moment, the only thoughts that mattered were not about business or goals or achievement.
They were:
Is this it?
Is this all there is?
Are my kids left without a mother?
Is my husband becoming a widow today?
When the car finally stopped, the storm cleared. The sun came out. I was safe.
But something in me had shifted forever.
Burnout Is Not a Personal Failure
We have been conditioned to believe that burnout means we didn’t try hard enough—or that we’re doing something wrong.
But burnout is not a character flaw.
It’s a nervous system response.
The World Health Organization now recognizes burnout as a workplace phenomenon, not a personal failure. Neuroscience confirms that when we live in chronic stress, the brain cannot access creativity, intuition, or long-term vision.
You can be wildly capable and deeply exhausted at the same time.
You can look successful and feel completely disconnected.
You can have everything you worked for and still feel empty.
That’s not abundance.
That’s survival dressed up as success.
Abundance Lives in the Present Moment
Abundance does not live in the future.
Not “once I get there.”
Not “once I prove myself.”
Not “once this season is over.”
Abundance lives now.
When I stopped living five steps ahead of myself and came back into the present moment—when I started looking people in the eye, listening to my body, and honoring what mattered—everything began to change.
Not overnight.
But profoundly.
Three Shifts That Unlock Abundance
1. Be Present
Presence is the gateway. You cannot receive abundance while your nervous system believes you are under threat.
2. Love Yourself Enough to Take Care of Yourself
Self-care is not indulgent. It’s leadership. You cannot abandon yourself and expect abundance to stay.
3. Tell Yourself a New Story
The story you tell yourself quietly becomes the life you live loudly. When I stopped telling the story that I had to prove my worth, I started living from the truth that I am already worthy.
Beyond Survival. Beyond Common.
This is why I created Beyond Common and the Beyond Common Method.
Because success without fulfillment isn’t success, it’s survival.
And abundance isn’t something you chase.
It’s something you unlock.
If you feel that quiet nudge that says, " There has to be more than this, you’re not broken.
You’re ready.
If something in you stirred while reading this, it’s not an accident.
That quiet recognition…
That exhale in your body…
That thought that says, “This is exactly what I’ve been feeling but couldn’t put into words.”
That’s your invitation.
