You Are Essential...No Matter Your Job
Self care and attention to our personal needs are two critical points that we should never neglect, especially during these challenging times.
Whether you’re working from home or working at home taking care of the kids etc., take time to get up from your desk or take a break from what you’re doing, stretch, run in place, do some jumping jacks or just jump up and down – anything to get you moving and shaking!
Before we tackle our day’s agenda of home-schooling and working from home, we, as a family have incorporated a morning walk into our new daily routine. It’s exhilarating and keeps us strong and bonded. We enjoy breathing in the fresh air and capturing as much nature as we can.
We also enjoy an evening walk and ask ourselves: “What two things are we grateful for today”? The kids love this and our dog is especially happy to have all of us accompanying him on his daily constitutionals! Being kind to yourself not only benefits you but also those around you.
Taking the time to relax and enjoy transfers to those around you and creates a more Zen like environment. You can’t hug your friends so give yourselves a hug. Make a point to do something today that will make you feel loved and cared for. Make sure you take the time to change your daily scenery. Take plenty of water breaks – hydration is essential to well being. Think about what you are looking forward to in the future. I’m a visionary, so looking into the future brings me comfort.
Binge watch a program that you’ve been putting off to watch cause there wasn’t time. Call a friend or Zoom with a group of friends. Practice creative writing or read a book – there are countless things to do – all you have to do is do them!
Remember, self care is crucial to your Beyond Common existence. Take care of you and you will have the ability to care for those around you.
Generate self love and appreciation – you’ll be surprised how contagious it is…after all…Self Care is where it’s at!
