Self Reflection: Paying Attention to Your Own Thoughts

Self Reflection: Paying Attention to Your Own Thoughts

In this hustle and bustle world we live in, how often do you actually take the time to reflect and think your own thoughts?

We live in a fast paced, noisy and distracting environment – so much going on and coming at us – an ultimate juggling act where it can be very challenging to do something as simple as taking a deep breath. Shutting out the outside world and embracing your inner thoughts can become mission impossible.

If you’re anything like me, you almost feel like you’re on a hamster wheel – if you stop to entertain your own thoughts or reflections, you are going to fall off and end up in oblivion!

Not being present for ME and for my loved ones doesn’t make me feel proud.
When I start feeling this way, without room for thought or reflection, I take a few steps back and tell myself that in order to be 100% present for my family, for my team and for life in general I need to be 100% engaged and in sync with myself first. I need to take a seat, take a breath, close my eyes and ask, “Why am I so busy and distracted”? I need to understand why I’m out of balance, why I’m chasing the proverbial squirrel that will never be caught, and I need to align my thoughts without any outside distractions.

Balance is a very important word. Think of the tightrope walker – if he’s not balanced, well…I don’t have to tell you what happens next! Balancing your thoughts and leaving plenty of room for reflection is crucial to living a Beyond Common life.

Think about what works and what challenges you. Then try to draw out what doesn’t work and what is anchoring you and holding you back. Take those negative thoughts and give them the boot. Instead, think about how to achieve your goals in a calm and constructive manner through calm and constructive thoughts.

When you begin to apply Beyond Common systems and principles you discover your own personal talents and goals and realize, wait a second here – “I haven’t been thinking for myself – Yikes!” “My thoughts have been overtaken by…everything and everyone but ME”!

It’s time to clear your head of clutter, clear your mind of intricately spun webs and carefully decide on what is important and what really works for you.

I’m so excited to hear from you when you do begin your new practice and begin achieving your goals.

Take time to delve into your own thoughts – you will be amazed at what you’ll discover.

And please reach out to me when you have reached that ultimate plateau – I’m looking forward to hearing from you and hearing about just how Beyond Common you are!
